EXPEDITION, ATACAMA DESERT, SALAR DE UYUNI, MACHU PICCHU: CHILE- BOLIVIA - PERU (18D - 17 N)


Day 1. SANTIAGO AIRPORT - HOTEL - CITY TOUR.

We receive you at Santiago airport and take you to your hotel before we start the city tour.

City tour Santiago :

From the hotel we make a small trip in the centre of Santiago visiting; Plaza de Armas and its surrounding colonial buildings; Municipality, Post office and the Cathedral. From here we visit the central market where you also can enjoy a great meal. The government palace "La Moneda" and its cultural centre, Santa Lucia hill the place where Pedro de Valdivia founded the city of Santiago de Chile in 1541. In the east we see the modern constructions and the changes that have happened to the neighborhoods. We end this trip in the craftsman shop (faba) where the Lapislazuli can be seen, this stone can only be found in Chile and Afghanistan and is exclusive, in the meanwhile we enjoy a pisco sour. Transfer to your hotel.  Lunch not included

Day 2: FULL DAY VALPARAISO - VIÑA DEL MAR.

At 8.30 we leave the hotel and go on our route to Vina del Mar, the best bathing spot in Chile, our small garden city which shows us its special architecture, streets, its palaces and the Quinta Vergara the place where the international song festival is yearly held. An unexpected pleasure it is to know an original statue, a Moai brought in from Easter Island. WE visit the beaches around the city. Lunch we take at a recommended restaurant with a beautiful view at the ocean. After lunch we move to Valparaiso, founded in 1536 and now the main port of Chile. Valparaiso is declared cultural heritage of humanity and serves as the place for the legislative power and the national congress. This city which is full of magic, picturesque elevators and unforgettable colorful neighborhoods which you can enjoy with our guide during your stay in Valparaiso. Before we leave Valparaiso, we have a look at the bay from the 21st of May hill, and return to Santiago where we drop you of at your hotel around 17.30 p.m. Lunch not included.

Day 3: TRANSFER HOTEL – AEROPUERTO – VALLE DE LA LUNA, MUERTE.

Transfer to the airport in the morning - flight Santiago - Calama. We receive you at Calama airport and in your private car you go to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama where we visit the church of the village, the archeological museum padre Le Peige. The salt mountains, the patience flat and entering the valley of the moon we see the 3 Mary's and in the end we get to the big dune where sit down to enjoy a wunderfull sunset. After this natural wonder we return to San Pedro de Atacama.

Day 4. ALTIPANIC LAKES; MISCANTI + MIÑIQUES + TOCONAO + SOCAIRE + VALLE DE JEREZ.

From San Pedro de Atacama we go to Toconao; visiting la Quebrada de Jerez and its cultivations. WE make an excursion to the Atacama desert's lake Chaxa to see flamingos and have lunch in Socaire. After lunch it is time to see Miscanti y Miñiques lakes. Return to San Pedro around 18.00 hours.

Day 5: TATIO + CASPANA + LASANA.

Leaving around 04.30 a.m. to the geyser El Tatio where we also have breakfast and can take a refreshing bath in the natural thermals. Visiting Calama, Caspana, Chiu-Chiu, Pukará de Lasana, Rio Loa, petroglyfs and Lake  Inca Coya. We return to San Pedro around 19.00 hours. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 6. SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - HITO CAJON - BOLIVIA.

In the morning we set course for Hito Cajon; the borderline between Chile and Bolivia, we enter Bolivia. During this trip we cross an altutude of 4.800 m.a.s.l. and we continue our expedition in 4x4 jeeps. During the trip we get to know; laguna blanca, laguna verde, the geyser the morning sun and laguna colorada. Lunch pic nic - Dinner - hostel around laguna colorada (4.200 m.a.s.l.).
 
Day 7. DESIERTO DE LOS LIPEZ.

In the morning we continue our expedition and we cross the Siloli desert concidered another arid desert in the world. A great variety of birds and some big colonies of Andino flamingos we find around the lakes Hedionda and Cañapa. In the afternoon we cross the Chiguana desert and than we arrive at our hostel; Magia de San Juan in the pueblo San Juan. Lunch pic nic - dinner - rustic hostel. 

Day 8. SALAR DE UYUNI.

This trip we dedicate to visit el Salar de Uyuni, here we visit the isle Lomo de Pescado and its giant chandeleer cactus, the eyes of the desert, and places where the salt is won from the desert. One of them is Colchani a small place where salt winning means life. Here we get a demonstration how the salt is won and processed. We go to Ururo where we have dinner and than hop on a bus 12 hours bus journey to La Paz. Dinner free.

Day 9. LA PAZ .


We arrive real early at La Paz and first take you to your hotel. In our afternoon we visit La Paz; Plaza de Armas and extern visits of la Catedral; the government palace, the legislative palace, the withch market, the indigineous market and the viewing point of killi killi.  All meals free.

Day 10. LA PAZ – TIWANAKU - COPACABANA.

After breakfast we go in a private car towards the archeological site of Tiwanaku, considered the most important ceremonial site of the Aymara people (pre Inca); regional archeological museum, the pyramid Akapana, the palace KALASASAYA and the underground temple. Later we continue our trip to Copacabana, the countries most sacred catholic place. Copacabana is situated at the bank of lake Titicaca in a bay with the same name; La Bahia de Copacabana. Food free.
 
Day 11. Isla del Sol.

In the morning we sail to Isla del Sol. Here we do a small walk which allows us to know the plalace of the Inca Pilkokaina and the source of 3 waters, an old ceromonial site of the Incas. Finally we arrive at a small Aymara community at the north site of the isle where stay the night at a small simple hostel but very cosy. Lunch during the trip and dinner included.

Day 12. ISLA DEL SOL - COPACABANA - PUNO.


In the morning we sail to Copacabana where we visit the basilica and its surrounding area. We do our paperwork while we cross the limits of Boliva and Peru and get to Puno. Lunch - Dinner free - hotel.

Day 13.  PUNO - CUSCO.

In a private car we cruise the 400 k. to the city of Cusco. During our trip we visit the tumbs of Sillustani, Raqchi the temple of Viracocha and the church of Andahuaylillas. Lunch - Dinner free- Hotel.

Day 14. CUSCO and its surround area.

A trip dedicated to know Cusco. In the morning a foot trip; KORICANCHA the temple of the sun and the convent of Santo Domingo, Plaza de Armas, the cathedral, l y el convento de Santo Domingo; Plaza de Armas; La Catedral; we stroll down the old city and the stone of the 2 angels. In the afternoon we visit the arquelogical sites in the vicinity of the city such as; SACSAY HUAMAN; QENQO; PUCA PUCARA and TAMBO MACHAY.  We return to Cusco.  Lunch- Dinner free- hotel.

Day 15. VALLE SAGRADO DE LOS INCAS.


In the morning we go to see the sacred valley of the Incas; La Fortaleza de Ollantaytambo; el Mercado de Pisac y el Sitio Arqueológico de Pisac. ( the fortress, market and the arquelogical site) Lunch - Dinner free - Hotel of your choiche in the sacred valley. 

Day 16. MACHUPICCHU.

In the morning we go to the railway station of Ollantaytambo from where we take the train to Aguas Calientes. From the railway station here we take small buses that take us up the winding hill to the arquelogical site of Machu Picchu. We stay about 2.5 hours before we get back to Aguas Calientes and from there after lunch back to Cusco. Lunch- Dinner free- Hotel

Day 17. CUSCO - LIMA.

In the morning transfer to the airport of Cusco for your flight to Lima. In Lima there is transport to your hotel. In the afternoon; visit to the historic city centre of Lima; Plaza de Armas and an exterior glimp of the goverment palace (house of Pizarro) church and convent of San francisco with its catacombs. a visit to the exterior of Tagle tower ( Ministry of foreign affairs now) the gold museum and the balconies of Lima. Lunch- Dinner free- Hotel.

Day 18. TRANSFER to the airport for home flight.

Transfer to the airport for your home or continuing flight.
