7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS: NORTH OF CHILE ADVENTURE.


Day 1: Arica - Putre.

 
After the pick up from your hostel we leave for the local market el Agro and make a visit to Azapa valley to see the world's oldest mummy at the Azapa museum. Geo glyphs, fertile soils in the valley Lluta, the village of Poconchile, chandelier cactuses Pukara Copaquilla show them selves on our zig zag road into the Altiplano. We enjoy lunch at Zapahuira, visit Socoroma and in the afternoon reach our destination Putre.
 
Day 2: Putre - National Park Lauca - Jurasi - Putre.
 
On our way to National Park Lauca a small walk at the caves, observing the flora and fauna, the views from Chucuyo and Lake Cotacotani decorate our Altiplano experience. Visiting the village of Parinacota is another Altiplano delight and next; at 4500 meters we get to Lake Chungara which is the highlight of National Park Lauca. After close looks at the birdlife and lunch has been digested a relaxing dip at the hot springs of Jurasi bring us on our way back  to Putre where we arrive in the late afternoon.
 
Day 3: Putre - Surire Salt Lake - National Park Isluga - Colchane.
 
 In the morning we leave Putre to go to the National reserve Las Vicunas and before we get to the Salt Lake at 4.200 meters at mid day, we visit the picturesque villages of Ancuta and Guallatire. During this trip we make various photo stops to enjoy the scenery and make some small hikes. In the early afternoon we have a picnic at the hot springs of Polloquere and enter the National Park Isluga where we visit Lake Aravilla and stop at the Altiplano villages of Enquelga and Isluga. Before night fall we reach Colchane where we spend the night.
 
Day 4: Colchane - Iquique - San pedro de Atacama.
 
In the morning we leave from Colchane and on our route to our lunch spot in Huara we have a proper look at the giants of the Atacama; some cactuses of 5 meters high and visit the Altiplano villages of Cariquima and Chusmiza. In the afternoon we visit the museum of Humberstone, the geo glyphs that show a Puma 900 A.D, a snake (wisdom) and a balance (justice) and the giant of the Atacama, our day trip ends in San Pedro de Atacama.
 
Day 5: San Pedro de Atacama - Geiser del Tatio - San Pedro de Atacama.
 
We leave at 04.00 a.m. and get to the Geyser of El Tatio around 06.00 a.m. At an altitude of 4.320 meters and 90 K. north east of San Pedro. It's a steamy experience when the water leaves the earth at 85 degrees C. and the steam can get as high as 15 meters. "El Tatio" contains about 40 geysers, has thermal baths and a natural swimming pool. After this miracle of nature we visit the village of  Machuca with its impressing flora and fauna. Around noon we get back to San Pedro de Atacama. (breakfast included at El Tatio)
                                   
Afternoon:

San Pedro de Atacama  -Moon Valley - San Pedro de Atacama.

 
Leaving at 4 p.m. we visit the viewing point of the salt plains where we can see how the wind plays with the salt. A 35 min. walk shows us the Valley of death
and another equal time walk brings us to the salt caves where the 3 Mary's are formed. The sunset which is precious here we see with the Altiplano as background scenery. Around 20.30 hours we get back to San Pedro Atacama.
 
Day 6.  San Pedro de Atacama - Salar de Atacama - Lagunas Altiplanicas - San Pedro de Atacama.
 
Leaving at 08.00 a.m. we visit the village of Toconao with its colonial church, Jerez valley with its beautiful gorge, we crisscross the Atacama desert and get to the National Park Flamingos where the lakes Chaxas near Socaire show the panoramic views. ( here we walk about 40 minutes and have lunch at a local restaurant) Aroud 17.00 hours we arrive in San Pedro de Atacama.
 
Day 7.  San Pedro de Atacama - Airport Calama.

At the indicated hour we take you to the airport of Calama.
